The Allotment Handbook: A Guide to Promoting and Protecting Your
Site. By Sophie Andrews. Available from Eco-logic Books (telephone
0117 9420165). ISBN 1 899233 10 5. This revised edition was reviewed
in Kitchen Garden Magazine who commented that the book might well have been
called "How to Save Your Allotment from the Bulldozer." An
excellent and highly informative manual on an emotive subject..
Planning Policy Guidance (PPG17): Planning for Open Space, Sport and
Recreation: This publication can be downloaded from the web site for the
Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). Revised in 2002, this national planning guidance is essential reading for anyone involved in planning
issues affecting allotments as a form of open space.
