The following publications have been particularly useful and informative to the work of the Eastleigh and Bishopstoke Allotments Association over the last 3 years.

A Good Practice Guide for the Management of Allotments: By Professor David Crouch, Dr Joe Sempik and Dr Richard Wiltshire.  For the Department of the Environment, Transport and Regions, The Greater London Authority, the Local Government Association and the Shell Better Britain Campaign. LGA 2001. ISBN 184049 204 X.  This is a must for anyone interested or involved in the management of allotments or promotion of allotment gardening.

The Allotment Handbook:  A Guide to Promoting and Protecting Your Site.  By Sophie Andrews.  Available from Eco-logic Books (telephone 0117 9420165).  ISBN 1 899233 10 5.  This revised edition was reviewed in Kitchen Garden Magazine who commented that the book might well have been called "How to Save Your Allotment from the Bulldozer."  An excellent and highly informative manual on an emotive subject..

Planning Policy Guidance (PPG17): Planning for Open Space, Sport and Recreation:  This publication can be downloaded from the web site for the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG).  Revised in 2002, this national planning guidance is essential reading for anyone involved in planning issues affecting allotments as a form of open space.
